Tomorrow the Sun Will Come Out

The baby was most definitely his, the doctor told him they weren't sure what happened, but his sperm count was well above normal. Khalisee suggested that maybe he should start wearing a condom, he slapped her, told her maybe she should get herself fixed. She watched as Mama's belly began to grow, and she worried.

What if it was another girl, what if Mama treated the baby like she treated her, what if Byron treated the baby like he did her.  She didn't know what to do, but she knew that there was no way she could leave the baby alone with them.

So she stayed, she turned 18 and she still stayed. She was in her final year of school, and with the extra work she put in she was hoping to graduate by the middle of the year.  She needed a diploma if she were to carry out her plan.

Nothing changed between her and Byron, he still came to her bed many nights, and caught her alone many days. Now there was no pretense of being her prince charming though, now he just took what he wanted and left her, most of the time without a word.

It was during one of Byron's night time visits that her plans changed. Mama went into labor and came looking for her husband, and she found him, riding her daughter.  Byron quickly threw on clothes and didn't say a word to Khalisee, but she could hear him as they left for the hospital, hear him placing all the blame on her. She knew when Mama returned, life in the house was going to change, and not for the better.

She wasn't sure what she expected when they returned from the hospital two days later, she knew better then to think anyone would call her. When they arrived back, Khalisee had been sitting on the couch, she had already completed everything she needed to do to be ready, so all there was left was waiting, and now that was finally over.

They didn't say a word to her as they walked past holding the baby, but she saw the pink blanket, and she knew, she had a sister. When they returned into the living room Khalisee stood up, prepared for the tongue lashing she knew she was going to get, instead her mother raised her hand and hit her, her hand landed sharply across her face, stinging and bringing tears to her eyes, the next hit wasn't with her opened hand, the next hit was with her fist, she punched her. She tried to get away, but Byron blocked her escape.  The blows rained down on her until darkness finally overcame her and she slipped away, wrapping herself in it's comforting embrace.

She came to and found herself still lying where she had fallen. She was sore, and bruised and as she became more aware, she began to remember, the blows from her mother's fist, and then the sharp kicks administered to her ribs and back.  She rose slowly, checking for any serious damage and besides a sharp pain in her side when she breathed, everything seemed to be in working order.

"I think you know, you have to go. Your mother doesn't want to see your face, ever again. I sent her away for a few days to recover, you have until tomorrow to pack your stuff and get out." She heard a baby cry from the nursery, and watched as Byron rose up to tend it.

That night, she finished packing a few things, then quietly she slipped down to the nursery, and there she laid eyes on her sister for the first time. "Shhh, we are getting out of here, you won't have to grow up here, we will find something, somewhere and it will be so much better!"  She lifted the tiny baby from it's crib, and hoisted the diaper bag she had packed onto her shoulder, with her other hand she grabbed the suitcase, and slipped out of the house.  They walked a few blocks to the nearest park, and there, she called a taxi.  "We need to go to the bus station please." she almost couldn't get the words out to the driver, she almost couldn't believe this was really happening, she was finally breaking free.

As she watched out the taxi window, she wondered what would happen tomorrow, when Byron realized his daughter was gone, would he hunt her down? Would the police catch them? She didn't know the answer to that, she just knew she had to do everything she could to keep them safe. "We are going to be just fine, Juliet, you'll see, it will all work out for us!"

Without a Paddle

He didn't touch her again, not while they were at the hotel, instead he waited on her hand and foot, bringing her warm compresses to soothe the ache between her legs. Two days later they returned home shortly before Mama arrived back from her week at the spa. Everything seemed to return to normal, except nothing would ever be normal again. Khalisee cried herself to sleep most nights, hating what they had done, hating herself for liking part of it, for daydreaming about parts of that weekend.

It was two weeks before she found herself alone with him again, she was cleaning up in the kitchen when he found her. Mama had left for a day of shopping. He came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her, whispering in her ears, "I promised to take you over the moon, are you ready baby girl?" She stiffened in his arms, silently cursing her body as it responded to his whispers. "Byron, I really don't think we should do that again, it's wrong, and I don't want to!"

He turned her to face him, "You don't understand, Khalisee, I didn't marry your Mama because I was in love with her, I married her because I wanted you. You're Mama is getting what she wants, all the money she can spend and me to warm her bed at night, why is it so unfair for me to get what I want, and why can't you have something you want to, I know you want it, I can see your desire in your eyes Khalisee." He fumbled with her jeans as he spoke, and slowly peeled them down, then hooking his thumbs in her panties he slid them off as well.

"See, your body doesn't lie baby girl, it wants me, it wants to feel me inside it again." He lifted her up, placing her on the counter, and with his other hand dropped his own jeans to the floor, then slid thrust himself into her. She winced as he invaded her again, but this time she knew better then to fight him, she knew it would end up the same either way, and so she let go. Slowly he pulled out and she gasped, the pain was less now, and the sensation was more. She tried to ignore it, tried to pretend it wasn't happening, but as he pumped himself in and out of her the pressure built. He released with the pressure still building in her, "God baby, you are so tight! So fucking tight I just can't last long with you!"

He slowly sat her back down on the ground and reached down fastening up his pants. "You better run and get a quick shower before your Mama comes home and sees you like that, Lord knows there would be hell for you to pay if she ever found out!" Khalisee stood there for a moment, shocked, it was almost as if he was threatening her, but she knew he wouldn't do that, he protected her. "What the hell are you standing there for? Do you want your Mama to know you're fucking her husband? Go now!"

She turned and ran for the shower, sobbing as she cleaned him off of her.

Byron had been having his way with her for a little over four months when he came to her with a big announcement. "You're Mama is pregnant again, I guess that vasectomy I had before we were married didn't take or she is fucking around on me, and I'm not really sure which it is! God help her if she is fucking around on me, I will destroy her! I have an appointment tomorrow to have my counts checked." Khalisee wasn't really sure what to make of his anger. "Aren't you fucking around Byron, I mean you fuck me every time Mama leaves the house?"

He slapped her, hard, "Don't you sass me, ever!" He stormed out and She was once again left standing and sobbing. She was in bed before he returned that night, and she stayed in her room until long after she heard him leave the next day. She could hear her Mama getting up and leaving as well, and wondered where she was off to.

Silently she walked out into the empty house and wandered over to the front door, her hand on the doorknob, she stood there, and wondered why she stayed. It was just a few more months until her 18th birthday, she had so many siblings, she could live with, but she knew, they all thought she was bad too, just like Papa, she had no where to go.

No Means Nothing

She was awestruck from the moment they arrived at the hotel, walking up the red carpet, she felt, perhaps for the first time, like she was really somebody.  They checked into their room, and took the elevator up. As she entered into the room her breath caught. Everything was so lavish and expensive looking!

"Do you like it Khalisee?" Byron had taken her hands in his, and his eyes held a shaded look she wasn't familiar with. "I love it Byron, you spent too much money though, you shouldn't have!"

He smiled at her and gently stroked her cheek, "I wanted to, and you are making it worth every penny." Why don't you go change into the swimsuit I packed in your suitcase, and we can try out the hot tub, and you can try a bit a wine if you want. "It's morning though, should we really drink wine in the morning, Byron?"

She couldn't help but giggle, he treated her so grown up. "We are celebrating this weekend, so we can drink wine whenever we want, besides it will help you relax and sleep, I'm sure you are getting a bit tired, we have been up all night!" It was then that she realized there was only one bed in the room, she started to ask if she was to sleep on the couch, but decided she would just deal with that when the time came, she happily trotted off to change into her swimsuit.

"Now that is a site I don't mind feasting my eyes on! You look stunning in that! I've always wondered what you look like with her hair let down, you know we have lived in the same house for three years, and not once have I ever seen your hair loose like that, it's beautiful, everything about you is beautiful!"  Khalisee smiled, not sure what to say, Byron led her over to the hot tub and poured them each a glass of wine.

They had both sat in the tub quietly sipping their wine, then Byron reached over, and took Khalisee's glass from her, pinning her under his arms. "Khalisee, I know this may see odd, but I think I'm falling in love with you." He reached down and covered her mouth with his. She wriggled trying to back away from the kiss, trying to get a breath so she could talk, finally he moved back, looking down at her. "Byron, I'm sorry, I don't know what to do, I've never even kissed, and you're married to my mother, and I don't think I feel like that. I mean I love you too, but not like that I don't think!"

He just stared at her, slowly getting out of the hot tub, "I think you are confused, and scared, and Khalisee, it's OK, I know you are new to all of this, and don't understand the feelings you are having. I will help you. This weekend is all about you."  She stood up and moved out of the hot tub, brushing by him as she went to the bathroom to change.

"Byron? Where are my pajamas? I need something to sleep in!" Byron sat on the bed waiting for her, "Khalisee I packed you new pajamas, something more fitting a young woman, instead of a little girl."
Slowly she walked out of the bathroom, wearing the silky gown he had packed for her, her cheeks tinted pink from embarrassment.

Byron patted the bed, signalling for her to join him. Khalisee walked over in a daze, she didn't understand what was going on, and she didn't know how to stop it. He had done so much for her, how could she hurt him, he was all she had now. She sat down on the bed next to him and he slipped his arm around her, pulling her close to him. " Just relax Khalisee, I promise you are going to like this, I promised to help you understand your feelings, but you have to relax and feel them to understand them.

His hand slowly slipped down from her shoulder, until his fingers rested gently on her nipple, there he began gently rubbing them through the satin. "Do you see how they harden under my fingers? That is because they know what they want, your body likes what it's feeling and it's telling me that."

She gasped as his hand continued down her belly, to her hip, and then down her thigh, he covered his mouth with hers as his hand stroked her thigh, pushing against her lips with his tongue, "Let me inside your mouth sweet girl, part those pretty lips and let me inside." Numbly she obeyed and felt the shock as his tongue entered into her mouth, prodding it, exploring it.

A squeal was cut off by his tongue shoving it's way back into her mouth, as his hand slid between her thighs and his fingers brushed against her, her body jumped in response and she felt a strange pulsing begin. He slowly began stroking her, "Open up there for me too sweet girl, let me in there." Her breath had become ragged, and her mind spun, she didn't want to do this, it was wrong, but her body wasn't listening, her body was betraying her.

She jumped as she felt his finger try to fit inside her, "My god you are tight," he groaned, slowly sliding his finger the rest of the way in and then back out. She groaned as he tried to fit his second finger in, the burning causing her to pull away, even as his thumb stroked that spot that was still throbbing. "Byron, what are you doing? Please, I don't think I want to do this!" panic was starting to rise as she noticed that he was pulling his trunks off with his free hand. "Baby girl, I know you are scared, and I won't lie, it's going to hurt, but you'll thank me later. Just try to relax and it won't be so bad."

His words terrified her and she shot up, away from his hands, her entire body growing cold and stiff with the fear clutched at her now. "No, I don't want to do this, it's wrong, I don't love you like that Byron, please, I just want to go home now!"  He stood up and stared at her, sitting upright on the bed, she had pulled her chemise back down covering the parts he had exposed moments ago. He didn't say a word to her, but she couldn't help but notice his trunks were completely gone, and what was staring back at her was horrifying.

She bolted out of the bed, but before her feet both touched the ground she felt her body being slammed into the mattress, her face pressed hard into the covers. She felt his hands roughly lifting up her chemise, and finally ripping it at the shoulders, he pulled it away from her, she was completely exposed, his arms holding her face down on the bed, all she could do was whimper.

"I know baby, I know, I didn't want it to be this way, I wanted it to be gentle and nice, but you are just too scared, your Mama messed up your head too much. Don't worry it will all be over before you know it." As he whispered in her ear, his legs had moved between hers and she felt something pushing against her. She knew, she knew what he was about to do, she had read enough, been told enough by Mama about how bad girls did bad things with bad boys. She didn't want to, but as she remembered her birthday evening, she wondered, maybe Mama was right, maybe she deserved this.

She felt him pushing against her opening, gently at first, each push causing her to gasp from the burning pain. She caught her breath as he pulled away, tensing, waiting for the slow burning of him trying to push inside her again,  when suddenly she felt him ram into her, forcing his way inside, ripping and shredding her as he went.

The pain was blinding and she screamed, the sounds so animalistic she hardly even realized she was the ones making them. He continued to ram into her, each time he pulled out, she hoped it was over, only to feel him ram back into her, ripping her more, at one moment, the moment she decided she must have lost all sense of sanity, she wondered, if the blood running down her legs would ruin the fancy rug beneath them. Another thrust, another strange scream and everything faded to black.

When she awoke the room was dark, only a few candles were lit, and Byron lay beside her watching. "You're going to be sore, so I figured it would be best if you just stayed in bed for a day or two. I ordered us room service.  I'm sorry it was so hard, but I promise it will never be that bad again. You should try to eat, you need your strength, next time I'm going to take you over the moon!"

She just stared at him as she tried to lift herself up, her body felt as if it had been beat, between her legs was raw and swollen. She didn't know what to say, she just knew this was her new life, she had told him no, and it had just made it worse, she wouldn't make that mistake again.

Into the Frying Pan

After they left the club, Byron took her to a small park and there they sat by the lake, and she was given her first taste of champagne. The bubbles tickled her nose, and made her giggle. Byron pulled her over closer to him, and silently they sat there together gazing up at the heavens.

He slowly moved her arm so she slid down to rest on his lap, and there they stayed for the longest time. She enjoyed the feeling of someone holding her, it had been so long since anyone had even held her. The only touch she had gotten in the last years was the sharp sting of her Mama's hand across her face when Khalisee had done one of Mama's many bad girl activities.

"Khalisee?" he looked down at her, slowly she opened her eyes looking up at him, had she dozed off? "Mmm?" was all she replied, "Did you have a wonderful birthday?"

She sat up and tried to clear the fuzz out of her head, "It was amazing Byron, no one has ever given me such a wonderful day! Thank you!"

Byron smiled at her, pulling her back into his arms."I'm glad it was special for you, you are special to me. I don't know if you know it, but you are turning into quite the beautiful young woman, inside and out! I have one more surprise, and I'm really hoping you like it."

Khalisee wiggled a bit out of his arms and turned to face him again, "I can't imagine you giving me anything I don't love, Byron, this night is already more then I ever dreamed of, you shouldn't have done so much!"

Byron smiled and stood up, offering his hand to help Khalisee off the ground as well, steadying her when she wobbled a bit in her heels. "I thought a magical night shouldn't end with you climbing back into a very non magical bed, so I rented us a hotel room at the Starlight Hotel. What do you say we take this birthday party over there now?" The sun had already begun peeping over the horizon, as she followed Byron out of the park, and she wondered if it's hot rays would burn the magic away. She giggled at the silly thought, and then gasped when she saw the transportation Byron had arranged for them.

She happily followed Byron to the stretch limo, she didn't think anything could make this birthday any more magical, or any less magical then it already was.

Out of Darkness

She wrote him every day, and every day she checked the mail, anxiously waiting his replies, and they came. Weeks turned to months, and months turned to years, and still the letters flew back and forth as the war that kept her brother away from her, raged on. He told her about how rainy it was there, how much he missed the sunny skies at home. He talked about long nights in cold and sometimes wet tents, or even worse when they were out without a tent.

She told him about home, how lonely she was without him there to talk to. She told him about life with Byron, how it wasn't as bad as she thought, and that sometimes he even talked Mama into letting her do things, as long as he goes with her. She told him how she couldn't wait until he was back home so they could get their own place together, so she could finally get away from Mama's craziness.

Then the letters stopped coming, she didn't stop sending them but they quit arriving.  Days turned to weeks, and still no word, she tried hard not to worry, he told her it might happen, that sometimes they had to go on special assignments and they weren't able to send out letters. When the weeks turned to months a hollow pit replaced her stomach. She couldn't eat, couldn't sleep.

Byron tried to cheer her up, taking her shopping for a special dress for her 17th birthday, but nothing helped, not even his promise of the special night he had planned for her could make her smile.

Then the knock came.
Missing in Action, that was the official report, the helicopter her brother had been in, had been found, what was left of it. No evidence of any survivors. He was gone, her lifeline had just been severed. Her world grew dark, and it stayed that way, the sun didn't dare rise on her, not after the universe played such an evil card.

Only the sun did rise, the next morning, and the morning after that, until one morning Byron came in her room. "Out of bed, Khalisee, you can't go on like this, you aren't honoring his memory by slowly killing yourself. Zacharias would want you to live, to laugh again.  Today you are going to shower and brush your teeth, and you are going to walk outside with me. Tomorrow we will worry about when it comes."

Little by little Khalisee came back from the dark, and holding her hand, showing her the way was her step-father, Byron.  Byron took her out to the movies, the swimming pool, he even took her out to see the ball game. He showed her that life was still worth living for.

Then it was there, her 17th birthday, she didn't know when she woke up that morning if she could do it, could she actually laugh that day, knowing her brother wasn't ever coming home to rescue her? Then she realized, she didn't need rescued, sure Mama was as nuts as ever, constantly badgering her about her clothing, her bathroom times, even her bed times, but Byron was there, he was there to talk sanity into Mama, and to make her life as easy as possible.

She slipped on the dress Byron had chosen for her with a smile on her lips, after she applied her makeup, and fixed her hair, she looked into the mirror.  Mama would definitely not approve, but she knew it didn't matter, because Byron had bought it and Mama couldn't argue with Byron, besides, Byron had sent Mama to a private resort for the entire week as a birthday gift to Khalisee!

The evening was magical, Byron taught her how to waltz, and men twirled her around the dance floor all night, wishing her a very happy and very sweet seventeen. She laughed, sixteen might not have been the sweet year it was suppose to be, but seventeen was going to make up for it!
